Certification by a physician or the health department, of freedom from TB disease is not required for child care workers by the Charles, Calvert & St. Mary's County Health Departments. It is however, important to continue to be alert to the possibility of TB. If you have experienced any of the following conditions and have not had a diagnosis made by a physician, please contact your family physician immediately to be tested for TB:

Symptoms of possible tuberculosis:

Prolonged cough (over 4 weeks duration)
Any cough, regardless of duration, that produces bloody sputum
Unexplained weight loss
Night sweats
Unexplained fever
